HealthThe Children's Traffic Club is a proven successful accident prevention scheme. For this reason it enjoys the support of many Strategic Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) in the UK.Health Authorities are important partners of The Children's Traffic Club; whilst it is the local authorities who usually fund the Club in an area, it is the Health Authorities who make it possible by mailing out to all parents and carers with 3 year old children, in their area. Within a Health Authority, the labelling and mailing is carried out by the PCTs, using 'invitation' packs supplied by The Children's Traffic Club. This method safeguards the privacy of children and families as nobody, outside the Health Authority, gets access to their details. (You may need the freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader software, if not already installed on your computer.) Health VisitorsHealth Visitors can get actively involved with The Children's Traffic Club as they have regular contact with families of young children. A specially developed Health Visitors Pack utilises Club material as the basis for child development tests. The pack also includes registration material for enrolling qualifying children who are not yet members.Health Visitors can promote the Club to parents or carers, explain the benefits and help them fill in the Registration Form, if needed. Health Visitors' assistance is particularly important in areas of deprivation where children are most at risk.
