About the ClubThe Children's Traffic Club was set up to provide a structured way for parents and carers to teach their 3 to 4 year old children basic road safety skills, in a fun and interactive way.This age group was chosen based on developmental psychological findings, which showed that most personality traits and life-long habits are set by the age of 5. It is during this period (up to 5 years of age) that an intervention programme like The Children's Traffic Club, has a strong chance of not only short term, but also long term success. Parents or carers are the people with the most influence on pre-school children and they play a very important part in the structure of The Children's Traffic Club. Their work with the child, on a one-to-one basis, is backed and supported by professionals, like Road Safety Officers, Health Visitors, childminders, nursery teachers and playgroup leaders.
