The sun shone in Denbighshire at the re-launch

of The Children's Traffic Club!

We are pleased to announce that Denbighshire County Council have re-launched the Children's Traffic Club on the 13th April at Faenol Fawr Hotel, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire.

Many delegates were present at the event, including Dr Sarah Horrocks, Consultant Community Paediatrician, Stuart Davies, Head of Highways and Infrastructure Conwy and Denbighshire and Charles Hughes Head of Highways Flintshire County Council. Also present were Road Safety Officers and a local playgroup Rhuddlan Pre-School Playgroup.

The Children's Traffic Club has been successfully running in Wales since 2004, originally launched in Denbighshire as a pilot scheme for the whole of Wales in April 2002.

All 3 year olds in Denbighshire have the opportunity to become a member of The Club, Nurseries and Playgroups, Health Visitors and Childminders also participate in the scheme using a variety of resources in their settings.

Denbighshire County Council is committed to changing attitudes, encouraging safer road behaviour and reducing casualty figures. We hope The Children's Traffic Club continues to prove a successful road safety education tool to help them achieve their objectives of saving lives.

Stephanie Brown, Road Safety Officer at Denbighshire County Council, said "This scheme is all about teaching youngsters important road safety messages in a fun, educational and interactive way. I hope that we can encourage more parents and children to join the Club and continue to improve the safety of our children through this very successful scheme".
